A conversation game, one square at a time

  1. Agree on the rules. Give each person a card. Decide whether the same relative may fill several squares; allow repeats for a small gathering. People can join, listen or pass.
  2. Find a match. Ask someone about a square, then follow up. A memorable family meal might lead to a story about a recipe, a picnic or who did the washing up.
  3. Write initials on the card. Mark the square when someone matches it. Names stay on the printed paper; the website does not collect player responses.
  4. Complete a line. A full row, column or diagonal wins. The center is already free on the default 5 × 5 card. Use a short time window if that suits your gathering better.

This is human bingo, with no number caller. Nobody needs to answer a prompt they would rather skip. Before printing, replace any wording that does not fit your family.

Keep everyone at the table

Seated play: take turns sharing a story or preference. Everyone can mark a square that matches the answer, without walking around.

A smaller gathering: use a 3 × 3 grid, allow the same person on several squares and set a short time window. Read prompts aloud if someone would find that helpful.

Take the prompts with you

The CSV includes a stable prompt ID and a prompt column. Open it in a spreadsheet and copy the prompt column into the maker. The text file has one prompt per line.

These downloads contain words and instructions. To save your personalized cards as a PDF, use the card maker’s browser print dialog.

From this example to your printed set

  1. Choose Edit these prompts. The maker asks before replacing your current game. Choose Back up current game first if you want to keep it, or Keep current game to cancel.
  2. Choose Load family reunion example. The starting set has 12 cards, a 5 × 5 grid, a free center and no logo. Edit the title, prompts and number of cards, then choose Generate cards.
  3. Choose US Letter or A4 and your text size. The example starts with Large text. Add an optional logo you have permission to use, and check that the text still fits.
  4. Choose Print / Save PDF. In the browser dialog, use the selected paper size and 100% scale, with headers and footers off. Each card uses one page.

The maker can generate up to 60 different arrangements. A 5 × 5 card draws 24 prompts from the pool plus its free center, so cards may share prompts. It keeps one current game in this browser; download a JSON backup to keep it for another device or another day.
